Hi there! My name is Nalicia Sawh-Boen and I am a children’s author. I love coffee, corny jokes, and engaging in shenanigans.

I began my writing career in 3rd grade when I won the Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Contest. Although I never considered a career in writing, I enjoyed posting my fiction stories to various sites and winning essay contests in school.

Growing up, I didn’t see many books that reflected my experiences and heritage as a woman of South Asian descent or as a West Indian woman. So, I decided to change that by becoming an author and writing the stories myself. One day, I sent out my manuscripts and crossed my fingers...

• I was born in Guyana and had a scarlet macaw as a pet.

• I have three cats - Snow, Zuzu, and Boots.

• I LOVE Barbie dolls and have a collection of over 130 dolls!

• I enjoy antiquing - it feels like a real-life treasure hunt.

• I am a meme queen and communicate using only memes 95% of the time.
